India's first Purushottam Panchayatan temple opens in Tandulwadi

The newly constructed Purushottam Panchayatan Temple at Shrikashetra Shankar Maharaj Math, Tandulwadi (near Shendurwada), opened its doors to devotees on the first day of Purushottam Maas.

This is the first temple in India to house all five deities of the Purushottam Panchayatan Lord Vishnu, Ganpati, Suryanarayan, Devi Bhagwati, and Panchmukhi Mahadev under one roof. Last week, on May 10, the idols of the Shri Purushottam Panchayatan deities were formally consecrated (Pranpratishtha) at the Shrikashetra Shankar Maharaj Math. This Sunday, on the very first day of Purushottam Maas, a 'Pavamani Abhishek' was performed in the presence of devotees. The main idol was anointed with Pavamanasukt Abhishek by Math head Swarasiddhanath Maharaj and Gurumauli Siddhanandanath. Ten yajamans (patrons) performed the abhishek of the movable idols. The temple was then opened for devotees, followed by a Maha Aarti.

Idol consecration and Pavamani Abhishek

The idols were consecrated on May 10, followed by a Pavamani Abhishek performed by Math head Swarasiddhanath Maharaj and Gurumauli Siddhanandanath on Sunday. The temple features a stunning 5-foot idol of Shri Purushottam, lit entirely by oil lamps, set in a serene natural environment.

Dress code for devotees

Darshan is open from sunrise to 9 pm. A dress code is mandatory white dhotar, sovale, or lungi for men; traditional Indian attire for women. A round-the-clock Naam Smaran 'Pahra' has also been organised for the duration of Adhik Maas, with prior registration required at the Math.
