Keep watch on suspicious activity, inform authorities immediately: BSNL officers

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

In view of the rising incidents of BSNL cable cutting in the city, citizens have been urged to remain alert and cooperate in protecting government property. According to BSNL officials, cables in some parts of the city are not only being cut to disrupt telephone services but are also suspected to be stolen for extracting and taking away new cables.

Especially during night hours, if individuals are seen removing old cables, there is a strong possibility that they belong to BSNL. To prevent such incidents, citizens have been appealed to stay vigilant and immediately inform concerned officials or the police if any suspicious activity is noticed.

In case of cable theft, citizens should inform the police by dialling 100 or contact BSNL officials Pardhe and Datta Dubey, officials said. Public cooperation is essential to safeguard government property. Similar incidents of copper cable theft by opening chambers have also been reported in rural areas. Officials stated that public support is crucial to curb such organised theft of government assets.

It was work of a private company

An incident came to light on Tuesday in the Chikalthana industrial area, where local residents informed the BSNL office about ongoing cable-laying work. Upon inquiry, Rajiv Khandare from the estate section clarified that it was work being carried out by a private company for laying approximately four kilometres of cable.
