Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Allegations of black marketing have surfaced in parts of the city, with domestic LPG cylinders reportedly being resold at Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000 amid supply concerns linked to the Gulf situation.

In areas such as Beed Bypass and Harsul, where supply remains stable, some households are allegedly purchasing cylinders every six to ten days and reselling them in shortage-hit localities. Residents claim a parallel market has emerged, with small traders and individuals supplying cylinders at inflated rates. Officials have not yet confirmed inspections into repeated or bulk purchases.

Accountability in focus

Questions are being raised over whether gas agencies should flag abnormal buying patterns, whether the district administration must step up enforcement, and whether consumers paying higher rates are encouraging the practice. Authorities are likely to review supply and distribution records to check for violations of LPG control norms. No official statement was issued till press time.
