Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A man from Parbhani district was allegedly cheated of Rs 2.5 lakh in Vaijapur tehsil after being lured with an offer to purchase good-quality goats at a low price. A case has been registered at Vaijapur police station against the accused, Rakesh Bhosale (resident of Solapur), who fled with the cash and a mobile phone.

Rashid Khan Chand Khan from Pimpali in Parbhani district had become acquainted with the accused during a train journey between Nanded and Parbhani. The accused gained his trust by promising to arrange goats at a cheaper rate. The two remained in contact over mobile phone for about 15 days. Later, on April 3, the accused called Rashid Khan to Vaijapur to take delivery of the goats.

When Khan reached Vaijapur, the accused took him behind a hotel in the Nandgaon area, saying the goats had gone for grazing and asked him to wait there. During this time, he collected Rs 2.5 lakh in cash from Khan and also took his mobile phone worth Rs 11,000 on the pretext of making a call. However, after some time, he fled with both the money and the phone.

After waiting for a long time and realising he had been cheated, Khan tried to search for the accused but failed to trace him. Finally, after about a month, he lodged a complaint at Vaijapur police station on Tuesday morning. A case has been registered and police are searching for the accused.
