A man has allegedly been cheated of Rs 20 lakh after being promised a postgraduate (PG) seat in Dermatology at a medical college in Bengaluru. A case has been registered at Pundliknagar police station, and police have launched a search for the accused. The incident occurred between October 2025 and March 2026.
According to the complaint filed by Ramakant Wadje (Ahilyadevi Holkar Chowk, Garkheda), his daughter Sakshi completed her MBBS in May 2025 and appeared for a PG entrance examination in August 2025. While she was searching for admission opportunities, she received a call in October 2025 from a man identified as Sandeepkumar, who claimed he could secure her a Dermatology seat at Vaidehi College in Bengaluru. He asked the family to visit Sri Sai Consultancy in Bengaluru, where a brochure was shown and a seat was allegedly offered for Rs 55 lakh. To gain their trust, the accused claimed the seat would be arranged through KEA and demanded Rs 20 lakh as advance payment. Wadje transferred Rs 5 lakh online on November 3, 2025. On February 9, 2026, Rs 10 lakh was paid in cash through an intermediary at Mondha Naka, and another Rs 5 lakh was transferred the same day. However, after completion of all three admission rounds, Sakshi’s name did not appear on the list. Upon direct inquiry at the college, the family found that all seats had already been filled. Realising they had been cheated, they demanded a refund, but the accused initially gave evasive replies and later stopped answering calls, the complaint states.
