Aurangabad, Jan 14: For the past four years, the Marathwada Accelerator for Growth and Incubation Council (MAGIC) Aurangabad, a flagship project of the Chamber of Marathwada Industries and Agriculture (CMIA) is trying to build a platform for start-ups, women entrepreneurs, SMEs by providing professional support and mentoring to promote entrepreneurship in the Marathwada region.

MAGIC is Business Incubator (BI) and approved host institute that supports MSMEs' entrepreneurial and managerial development through incubators. MAGIC is trying to build a start-up eco-system in the Marathwada belt, right from helping rising entrepreneurs ideate and pitching their ideas and connecting them with potential investors. The incubator also hosts regular workshops, talks, boot camps and other such knowledge-building sessions for industries and students. MAGIC runs an idea validation clinic every Saturday for anyone planning to start-up. Their Marathwada Innovation Challenge is receiving participation from all over India. It is also one among 18 organisation to receive funding support from the Maharashtra State Innovation Society.

Seven start-ups have graduated from MAGIC, and at present, it is incubating a further seven start-ups. These start-ups range from Agri-equipment innovations from a school dropout to a start-up by an engineer that offers 3D printing solutions to multiple industries. Their Innovation Promotion Cell promotes women entrepreneurship and is working closely with the Indo German Tool Room to provide skills training and access to training facilities.

E-cell in englinnering colleges

MAGIC aims to set up a branch of the centre in each of the eight districts of Marathwada and is also in talks with engineering colleges to set up e-cells so that students get to nurture their entrepreneurial skills early on.
