Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
The municipal corporation currently employs 1,800 staff on a contractual basis. Recently, the administration appointed four different agencies to supply this workforce. One of these agencies has now submitted a letter stating that the work is not financially viable at a service charge of 3.84 per cent, and that it will be unable to continue. This has caused a dilemma for the administration.
Previously, contractual staff were employed through three separate agencies, one of which handled nearly 1,500 employees. After terminating that agency, the corporation invited fresh tenders and selected four different agencies. Under the agreement, the agencies are required to pay the contractual staff the same salary as the corporation offers. The agencies are entitled to a service charge of 3.84 pc of the total bill.
Three months ago, all four agencies began work, each managing around 500 employees. The contract stipulates that agencies must pay staff salaries from their own funds for a minimum of three months before the corporation reimburses them. One of the agencies has now indicated that it cannot continue the work due to financial constraints. Consequently, the employees under this agency will be redistributed among the other three agencies, according to municipal sources.
Breakdown of staff per agency:
CISB Pvt. Ltd. (413 employees)
Omsai Manpower Services Pvt. Ltd. (297 employees)
Mediators and Ajanta Securities Pvt. Ltd. (508 employees)
Singh Intelligence Securities Pvt. Ltd. (611 employees). Sources confirm that one of these agencies has withdrawn from the contract.
