Aurangabad, May 10:

In the first Corona wave, the rural areas in the district were free from Corona pandemic, but it have been grappled in the clutches of Covid in the second wave this year. More than 600 villages in the district have been affected.

The pandemic situation is getting under control in the urban areas but the rural areas are still affected by the Corona pandemic. The situation in the urban areas is getting under control due to the awareness increased amoung the people but it is still a challenge in the rural areas, opined additional district collector Dr Anant Gavhane.

There is less awareness about social distancing in the rural areas. People are gathering to console the family members in case of death incident. Last year, perfect planning of containment zones were made in 1372 villages but this years there are 133 zones only. The containment zone concept is not implemented effectively this year.

Dr Gavhane claimed that the number of patients in the district has reduced and the administration has gained success in controlling the mortality rate. A demand for additional oxygen has been made to the government and the concerned health authorities should informed the Oxygen vigilance committee at District Collectorate in advance of around 10 hours for the oxygen demand, Dr Gavhane appealed.
