Aurangabad, Nov 3:

In an uncommon incident, Daulatabad police have detained a woman, Tulsabai Shelke, on the charge of killing her 35-year-old son Krishna Shamrao Shelke at Aasegaon (in Gangapur tehsil) yesterday evening.

It so happened that Krishna, in a drunken state, came to the house on Monday afternoon. In a fit of anger, he started beating his wife and mother (when she intervened). The wife escaped from his clutches and started screaming for help. Krishna then locked the door from inside so that his mother does not go outside. The neighbours and others broke open the door and found Krishna trying to strangulate his mother with both hands. The people intervened and freed the old lady from his clutches.

As soon as the mother got free, she picked up a wooden plank, lying in the house and started beating Krishna with it. As this was a usual scene, the neighbours and other people went to their homes. Later on, the mother also went to meet her daughter staying in the village.

Coincidentally, when the people peeped into the house of Krishna at 8.30 pm, they were shocked to see him lying in a pool of blood.

In the meantime, the Daulatabad police came to know that Krishna is lying unconscious in his house at Asegaon. The police inspector Rajashri Aade and PSI Ravi Kadam along with their team reached the spot and with the help of Mobile II van shifted Krishna in an unconscious state to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment. However, the doctors declared him dead on examination.

The deceased has two sons, who are studying in Class IXth and VIIth. Presently, the schools are closed; as a result, they used to go on their field for farm work with their mother and grandmother. Krishna was not doing any work. He would pick a quarrel with family members and also beat them for money to drink liquor.

The family was fed up with Krishna''s addiction to liquor. He was having three and a half acres of land but sold it out in phases to fulfil his desire for consuming liquor. Today, the family has the possession of 20 gunthas of land only.
