A car of the Nashik Range superintendent of police, CID, was hit by a rashly driven autorickshaw near the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University gate on Sunday afternoon, causing the rickshaw to overturn and injure its passengers. The incident occurred on February 8 while the vehicle was travelling from Begumpura towards Chhavani.
CID Nashik Range superintendent of police Dipak Girhe was in the rear seat, while his official driver, police constable Bharat Pawar (52), a Nashik resident, was driving the government car after completing official work in the city. The autorickshaw rammed into the car’s left rear wheel, overturning once or twice.
Hearing the crash, locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to hospital. Amid the crowd, an unidentified woman hurled a stone at the superintendent’s car, shattering the front windshield. The autorickshaw driver allegedly abused those present and fled. Based on Pawar’s complaint, a case has been registered against the autorickshaw driver (MH-20-EF-4154) and the unidentified woman.
