National-level water conference at MIT from tomorrow

The 58th Annual Water Conference, organized by the Mumbai Centre of the Indian Water Works Association, will be held from January 22–24 at MIT Institute’s Manthan Auditorium on Beed Bypass. Experts, officials, engineers, researchers, and students from across India will participate in sessions on water resources, supply, wastewater management, sustainable development, and conservation, said Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran chief engineer Manisha Palande. MIT Director General Munish Sharma, Director Dr. Nilesh Patil, Pramod Dalvi, and Civil Engineering Head Dr. Prashant Avasarmal were also present. For the first time, the conference will be chaired by a woman, Manisha Palande. It will be inaugurated Thursday at 10 am by minister of state Gulabrao Patil, with Rajya Mantri Meghna Bordikar as chief guest. Other dignitaries include Divisional Commissioner Jitendra Papalkar, municipal commissioner G. Sreekanth, MIT DG prof Munish Sharma, and MIT founder-chairman Dr Yajneveer Kavade. Over 1,000 engineers will attend; 100 have registered research papers, of which 50 have been approved for presentation.
