New patients in rural areas cut by 80 %

Aurangabad, Dec 10: A total of the corona patients diagnosed daily in rural areas of the Aurangabad district has come down by 80 per cent. Hundreds of patients were being diagnosed daily till September. But in the last few days, less than 20 patients have been diagnosed in rural areas every day.

The first Covid case was diagnosed on April 26 at Daulatabad. Since then, there was a rapid increase in Covid cases in rural areas as well as urban areas. At present, the number of patients in rural areas has crossed 15,000. The highest increase in corona patients was in September as 100 to 150 patients were being diagnosed daily. As a result, the health system in the rural areas had undergone a major change. However, after October, the number of patients began to fall and further fell in November. Since then, 12 to 20 corona patients have been diagnosed daily for the last 10 days.

So far, the rural mortality rate in the rural belt is 2.2 per cent. The number of patients and deaths are also lower in rural areas as compared to urban areas.
