Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The municipal corporation has been conducting continuous raids on warehouses storing banned plastic carry bags over the past few days. On Thursday, the civic team seized a total of 5,620 kg of banned plastic carry bags from Katkat Gate and Jaibhimnagar areas. Both traders were fined Rs 25,000 each.

According to officials, the action gained momentum after internal issues within the ‘Nagrik Mitra Pathak’ (NMP) were resolved, leading to more consistent enforcement drives.

Under the guidance of deputy commissioner Nandkishore Bhombe, a raid was carried out at the residence of Idris Mohammed in the Katkat Gate area, where 5,220 kg of banned carry bags were confiscated. The action was taken after information was received regarding the transportation of prohibited plastic material.

The operation was conducted by civic officials including assistant commissioner Shaikh Abdul Rafiq, sanitary inspector Sachin Ragde, and members of the NMP.

In a separate action at Jaibhimnagar, 400 kg of carry bags were seized from the residence of Aamir Shaikh. This operation was carried out with the help of NMP, sanitary inspector Gautam Kamble, and jawans Wasim Mohammed and Sachin Admane.
