Over 81K degrees to be awarded in convocation

Aurangabad, June 22: Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) will confer degrees on 81,736 candidates of graduate, postgraduate, M Phil, Ph D, diploma, advanced diploma, postgraduate diploma and certificate courses in its 61st convocation ceremony to be held at 10.30 am on June 25.

Preparations for convocation ceremony are nearing completion.

Addressing a Press conference here on Tuesday, vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole said that governor and chancellor of the universities Bhagat Singh Koshyari will preside over the ceremony. The main function will be held online.

Higher and technical education minister Uday Samant will be the chief guest. Chairman of All Indian Council for Technical Education Prof Anil Sahastrabuddhe will deliver the convocation address.

VC Dr Pramod Yeole will deliver the welcome speech. Pro-VC Dr Shyam Shirsath, registrar Dr Jaishree Suryavanshi and director of Board of Examinations and Evaluation Yogesh Patil will also grace the event.

Highest number of degrees at 38,541 will be awarded in Science and Technology faculty followed by humanities (20,392), Commerce and Management (17,593) and Interdisciplinary Studies (5,210).

Ph D will be awarded on 427 candidates.The faculty-wise Ph D candidates figure is as follows Humanities (174), Science and Technology (129), Interdisciplinary Studies (67) and Commerce and Management (58).
