PS incharge will be held responsible if staff held for taking bribe

Aurangabad, June 25:

The Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) frequently takes action against corrupt government officers and employees. Still, the government employees have not refrained from taking bribes. Action is taken every year against maximum employees of the revenue department, followed by the police department. In all, 12 police department employees were trapped in the ACB net in the past five months. Commissioner of police Dr. Nikhil Gupta taking the matter seriously decided that the concerned police station incharge will be held responsible for any bribery case in the police station. Taking and giving bribes are offenses. Still, the government employees demand bribes from the residents for doing their works. Moreover, the complaints against the persons trying to bribe the government employees is less than half a percent with the ACB. In all, 12 police employees were booked in the bribery cases from January to May, this year. The police demand bribe for not including any person in the case, taking action on some complaint, or not taking any action in any case. Hence, the police station head is responsible for seeing what action is taken within 24 hours after receiving the complaint by the concerned officer. Henceforth, the concerned incharge will be held accountable if any employee is booked in a bribery case, informed Dr Gupta.

A few days back, the ACB conducted an inquiry of a constable and a PSI of the Waluj MIDC police station. The commissioner of police directed the ACP to conduct an inquiry of the concerned police station incharge in this matter.
