Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Continuous unseasonal rain accompanied by strong winds and hail over two days (Wednesday and Thursday) has caused massive damage to rabi crops in Phulambri, Kannad, Sillod, Gangapur, and Khultabad tehsils. Wheat, maize, gram, and onion crops ready for harvest have been completely flattened. The weekly market in Nachanvel was disrupted, and power supply was cut in several areas, leaving farmers devastated as their ready produce was destroyed.

Severe damage in Lasur Station and Shilllegaon areas

Lasur Station: Heavy rain with lightning and strong winds between 9:30 pm and midnight on March 18 caused extensive damage to rabi crops in Lasur Station and Shilllegaon areas. Wheat, maize, millet (bajra), and onion crops have been severely affected, leaving farmers helpless. Due to cloudy weather in recent days, farmers were struggling to harvest crops, and many fields remained unharvested due to the unavailability of harvesters. Strong winds flattened standing wheat and maize, resulting in complete crop loss. Farmers have suffered major financial setbacks, with year-long efforts wasted. Villagers have demanded immediate damage assessment and substantial compensation from the government.
