Aurangabad, Nov 24: Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administrator Astik Kumar Pandey effected some changes in the administration on Tuesday aiming to enhance the recovery of water and property tax. Deputy municipal commissioner Aparna Thete has replaced assistant commissioner Nandkishor Bhombe who had been working as tax assessment officer for the last few months.

Legal advisor Thete had recently been promoted as DMC. However, she had not been entrusted with any responsibility. Now, she will look after the tax recovery. This year, the AMC is expecting to amass Rs 234 via property tax and Rs 61 crore in water tax. All officials and employees have been given ward-wise recovery targets by the December-end. After this deadline, I will himself take to street for the recovery, Pandey has said.

Sources said that Bhombe has been shifted as the recovery work was not progressing as per planning. The administrative machinery is doubtful about meeting the targets owing to Covid-19 situation. However, even in preceding years, the recovery has always been dismal.

Ward-wise recovery targets are as follows:

Ward 1 - Rs 32 crore, Ward 2 - Rs 35 crore, Ward 3 - Rs 20 crore, Ward 4- Rs 30 crore, Ward 5 - Rs 36 crore, Ward 6 - Rs 36 crore, Ward 7 - Rs 40 crore,

Ward 8 - Rs 39 crore and Ward 9 - Rs 42 crore.
