Aurangabad, April 6:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has declared 26 containment zones (of different types) in the city on Sunday. However, the residents staying in these zones claimed that the AMC is yet to take measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in these zones.

According to them, the AMC had displayed any boards alerting that it is a containment zone. Hence they questioned why their areas had been listed as containment zones. Last year, the AMC made strenuous efforts in containment zones. The fire brigade section was spraying disinfectants, boundaries were sealed, persons in contact with the positive patient were traced, health check-up was done by ASHA workers etc. This year, the policy has changed, but the AMC had done nothing beyond declaring the containment zones (to areas from where the patients were detected in large number).

When contacted the municipal officer of health (MoH), Dr Neeta Padalkar, said, " We will be deploying ASHA workers for screening of citizens staying in the containment zones. The AMC will also display boards in this regard, soon. Presently, the focus of AMC is on tracing contact persons and provide them treatment at the earliest."
