Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) withheld the results of 544 candidates involved in malpractice.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, divisional president Anil Sable said that 648 candidates were found indulging in copying in the five districts during the examination.

He said that 501 students were caught in two mass copying cases at two separate places (Jaitapur in Kannd and Chausala in Beed)

A total of 58 copycats were individual, while 41 cases reported for tearing answer books and a change in handwriting. He said that the Divisional Board made complaints with the police against 48 examination centre staff for assisting the copycats,

“After holding a hearing of 56 individual copy cases, the marks of 54 candidates in their respective subjects were cancelled. The remaining two candidates were found innocent and their result is being declared,” he said.

A total of 24 teachers, employees and centre chief were found helping in mass copying at Rashtriya Uchha Madhyamik Vidyalaya at Jaitapur village in Kannad tehsil of the district on February 10, the first day of the HSC examination.

A total of 327 students were present in 14 examination halls of the centre when the flying squad reached there and found nine papers with identical answers being used by students. The answer sheets of all the students in the centre were seized. A probe into 127 students under suspicion is underway. Anil Sable said that action would be taken against these candidates on completion of the probe as per the instructions of senior officers.

Similarly, 371 students were found involved in mass copying in Beed district. They too will face music on completion of the enquiry.

“The probe is pending because the officers and employees of the Board were busy preparing the HSC result on time,” he added.
