The city is set for rapid and holistic development, but any attempt to obstruct progress will not be tolerated, and those opposing development will not receive funds, warned guardian minister Sanjay Shirsat, mayor Sameer Rajurkar, and divisional commissioner G Shreekanth on Friday.

The remarks were made at the flag-off of 550 new waste collection vehicles at Ayodhanagari ground. Before the event, AIMIM corporators staged a symbolic “Gandhigiri” by showering flowers on officials. Waste management work has been assigned to Gujarat-based Western Imaginary Company. Municipal commissioner Amol Yedge said visible improvements in waste collection, segregation, and vehicle capacity will be seen within three months. The guardian minister said obstructive corporators had been “taught a lesson” and reiterated that those blocking development will be denied funds. He added that waste and water issues are being resolved, encroachments removed, and better roads will follow. He assured full support to the civic body and praised young officers. OBC Minister Atul Save said the city is expected to be fully cleaned within 100 days. The Mayor said waste and water issues are improving and the city will no longer remain stagnant, adding that obstructing development should be avoided. He also highlighted that the civic body is the first in the country to seize 9 million carry bags.

“Cost concerns are misplaced,” says divisional commissioner

Divisional commissioner G. Shreekanth0 said criticism over costs is misplaced as workers must receive Rs 20,000- Rs 21,000 minimum wage. He said 130 youth are engaged in awareness work and stressed that higher spending is necessary, warning against attempts to halt development. AIMIM leader of opposition Abdul Samir and corporator Usama Abdul Qadir, along with party corporators, protested alleged excess payments by offering flower bouquets to officials.
