New projects worth Rs 44,000 crore are set to come up in the Bidkin industrial zone of the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). To make land available for these projects, the Auric administration has decided to acquire an additional 8,000 acres of land. The process will begin soon, said state industries minister Uday Samant while speaking to reporters here on Thursday night.

Under the DMIC project, around 10,000 acres of land had earlier been acquired in the Shendra and Bidkin industrial zones of Auric. Over the past six-and-a-half to seven years, companies from India and abroad have announced investments of nearly Rs 90,000 crore in these two industrial zones. About 80% of the companies in Auric Shendra have already started production, while the remaining units are under construction. Following Shendra, projects worth nearly Rs 57,000 crore have been initiated in the Bidkin industrial zone over the past nearly two years by several companies. These companies have applied for approvals from various government departments. Most of these companies are engaged in electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing, and their presence is gradually turning Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar into an emerging EV hub.

Now, companies planning to invest another Rs 44,000 crore are set to enter Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Speaking to journalists during his visit to the city on Thursday night, industries minister Uday Samant said that the decision to acquire an additional 8,000 acres was taken considering the growing demand for projects under DMIC, and the land acquisition process will begin soon.
