Satara man duped of Rs 4 lakh in 'Mantralaya Connection' job scam

A 35-year-old man seeking a government job lost Rs 4 lakh to two private coaching class operators who promised recruitment through their alleged "mantralaya." The police have registered a case against Chandrakant Yadav, owner of Parm Institute, and Professor Sudam Narke of Osmanpura.

Victim Yogesh Uttam Sable(35), a private sector employee from Satara, trusted Narke, a longtime friend of his father. In January 2023, Narke claimed he could secure a job in mantralaya through his ministry links. He introduced Yogesh to coaching institute owner Yadav, who demanded Rs 4 lakh to "process" the appointment. Believing them, Yogesh paid the amount. However, when he followed up, the accused kept delaying, insisting the appointment letter was "on the way." As months passed, Yogesh demanded a refund. The accused handed him a Rs 2.5 lakh cheque from Universal Science Academy, which bounced due to an incorrect signature. After Yogesh complained, they issued another cheque but it bounced due to insufficient funds.

Police action

Frustrated, Yogesh reported the fraud to Satara PI Sangram Tathe. Following his orders, police booked Narke and Yadav under fraud charges. API Shailesh Deshmukh is investigating further.
