Short circuit near three DPs triggers fire;

Amid intense summer heat, a major fire broke out following a short circuit near three distribution panels (DPs), causing extensive damage to the power substation and disrupting electricity supply to the entire village.

The substation is located along the Ladsawangi–Karmad road. Around 3 pm, a short circuit occurred in three DPs supplying electricity to the village, situated adjacent to the substation’s wired compound. The fire quickly spread, burning cables and leading to a complete power outage across the village. Locals pointed out that dense bushes and vegetation near the substation’s compound had not been cleared by electricity department staff. The unchecked growth allegedly contributed to the short circuit and intensified the blaze, resulting in significant losses to the power department. Residents have expressed anger over the alleged negligence of substation employees. Due to severe damage to the DPs supplying the village, electricity remained disrupted until evening.
