A Kiranotsav ceremony took place on Wednesday at 4.10 pm in the Chaitya Hall of Cave No. 10 at the world-famous Ellora Caves. Tourists and devotees gathered in large numbers as sunlight fell directly on the statue of Gautam Buddha, creating a glowing effect.

Cave significance
Cave No. 10, also called the “Vishwakarma Cave” or “Sutar Jhopa,” is an exceptional example of architecture, structural design, and astronomy. Every year, the Kiranotsav is held on March 10 and 11. This year, as the caves were closed on Tuesday, crowds flocked on Wednesday to witness the event.

At 4.10 pm, sunlight entered through the upper window (gavaksha), illuminating the sanctum and the statue. History enthusiasts and tourists captured the moment on cameras and mobiles or simply enjoyed the sight, leaving many spellbound.
