Aurangabad, May 19:
The representative of Swami Vivekanand Academy remained absent for the hearing held by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zilla Parishad (ZP) Dr Mangesh Gondawale.
The school was given another opportunity to present its side. Education Department officers said that a detailed report would be sent to the director of education by month-end so that students should not face any academic loss.
It may be noted that Academy decided to close down from eight to the 10th standards of Marathi medium from the current academic year. It sent Transfer Certificate (TC) to 650 students by speed post. Both students and parents are worried about it. Parents, AIMIM and Yuva Sena requested the district guardian minister Subhash Desai to do justice with students and parents.
Subhash Desai directed CEO Dr Gondawale to pay attention to the matter and ensure that students should not face any educational loss.
So, the CEO called a meeting of school administration, parents and teachers. The teachers, parents, education officer (secondary) Dr B B Chavan and education officer (primary), Surajprasad Jaiswal were present for the meeting on time. No one from the schools was present. One more opportunity would be given to the school to present its side with the office of deputy director of education before taking a final decision. The school may face action from the education department.
Education department officers said that the final decision would be taken on the issue on the Government level.
“The school will not be allowed to take the decision of closure. Three options would be to it for the final decision,” they said.
CEO Dr Gondawale said that as per the discussions with teachers and parents, the schools had not taken teachers who have completed 20 years of service into confidence before taking the closure decision.
“It is also wrong to send TC to students directly. We will take care that students do not face any loss of education. The education society was given approval and land for Marathi medium school. We will send a detailed report to the Government by the month-end. The final decision would be taken on the Government level,” he said.
Education officer Dr B B Chavan said that the school has been waiting to get de-affiliated.
“The education society does not want to run the school and it seems that the society representative will not attend the hearing. There are three legal options and we are thinking them over.
The first option is that administrator can be appointed, while another is that the school should be handed over to another society. The third alternative is that teachers should establish an education society for running it. The Education Director would be informed about the situation and he would take a hearing and final decision," he added.
