Tehsildar and Agent Released on Bail Within 24 Hours

Tehsildar Sarang Chavan and agent Salil Shaikh, accused of demanding a bribe worth lakhs, were granted bail on Wednesday against a surety bond of Rs 15,000. The court released them within 24 hours of their arrest.
On Monday, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team in Ahilyanagar caught Salil red-handed while accepting a Rs 1.1 lakh bribe from a sand trader. Following this, Chavan, who was allegedly involved, was also arrested. After detaining them at 5 pm on Monday, an FIR was registered against them at 10 am on Tuesday. They were officially arrested at 2 pm and later presented in court, which sent them to one-day police custody. On Wednesday afternoon, ACB Deputy Superintendent Sangeeta Patil produced them before the court. Advocate Sharad Bangar represented the prosecution, while advocates Gopal Pande, Kiran Kulkarni, and Shivam Pande defended the accused.

Mandatory bi-monthly attendance
The court granted Chavan bail on a Rs 15,000 surety bond. Additionally, he has been ordered to appear at the ACB office on the 1st and 15th of every month between 3 pm and 4 pm until the chargesheet is filed.
