Thieves arrested for stealing 300 kgs raw material of stainless steel
Aurangabad, Dec 3:
Cidco MIDC police have arrested three thieves on the charge of stealing three quintals (300 kgs) of raw material used to manufacture stainless steel from a company situated in Chikalthana MIDC, last night. The police also arrested the scrap vendor to whom these thieves had sold out the stolen raw material.
The police inspector Vithal Pote said, " Kshitij Prakash Agarwal (of N-3 Cidco) runs an iron factory in CMIDC. As a routine, he closed the factory on Wednesday evening and went home, while the watchman also closed the main gate and went to sleep. The thieves entered into the factory campus from the compound wall and decamped with the raw material. Agarwal came to know about theft during the next morning. He went through CCTV cameras and spotted two persons entering and going out of his factory. Accordingly, Agarwal complained to the police, who then swung into action.
The team comprising Pote, head constable Muneer Pathan, Shahed Shaikh, Deepak Shinde, Nitesh Sundarde and Avinash Dabhade found the lead and arrested Ravi Ramesh Gaikwad (30), Ganesh Sandoo Salve (48) and Yogesh Raosaheb Gaikwad (20, all residents of Brijwadi). The thieves confessed of stealing the raw material and also informed the police that they had sold it out to a scrap vendor Shaikh Abrar Shaikh Abdul (23, a resident of Powerloom). Police arrested Abrar and confiscated 140 kg scrap and Rs 40,000 cash from his possession. The police are investigating the case.
The police today produced all the four accused before the court. The judiciary awarded police custody remand (PCR) of one day to all of them. Meanwhile, the cops are hopeful of surfacing similar theft cases committed by the gang in the past during the investigation.
