Three locations identified for hydraulic parking facilities in city

As the parking problem in the city continues to worsen by the day, hydraulic parking has emerged as a possible solution. On Thursday, municipal commissioner Amol Yedage held a meeting in the presence of standing committee Chairman Anil Makariye. Detailed discussions were held on introducing modern parking facilities at Paithan Gate, Nageshwarwadi and the Municipal Corporation headquarters. A provision of Rs 15 crore has been made in the budget for this purpose. The civic chief also suggested that tourist locations should be included in the plan.

At present, the municipal corporation has not developed any formal parking facilities anywhere in the city. Vehicles parked along roadsides by citizens are often towed away, with owners required to pay a penalty of Rs 2,000. There has been a long-standing demand for the corporation to establish designated parking facilities across the city. Taking the initiative, the chairman Makariye convened the meeting with the commissioner. Discussions focused on setting up hydraulic parking at the above three main locations. The commissioner also expressed the view that such facilities should be created at tourist sites and the corporation headquarters.

Need for e-toilets

Women face considerable inconvenience in marketplaces and other areas due to the lack of accessible public toilets. The meeting also discussed the need to install e-toilets at various locations. The chairman suggested setting up such facilities at Vasant Bhavan and Aurangpura vegetable market. Additional commissioner Kalpita Pimpale, city engineer Sanjay Kombade, additional city engineer Anil Tanpure, deputy commissioner Aparna Thete and deputy engineer Sanjay Chamle were present at the meeting.

MIDC land required for Garware Stadium

A tender worth Rs 45 crore has been finalised for constructing a large pavilion on the southern side of Garware Stadium. Commissioner Amol Yedage also held a meeting regarding the additional land required for the stadium. It was proposed to acquire the adjacent Kalagram land. A proposal will be prepared and placed before the Board of Directors (BoDs) of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). The Commissioner expressed confidence that the proposal would receive approval following a positive decision at the meeting.
