Traditional and modern election symbols are in vogue in GP elections
Aurangabad, Jan 1:
Over 190 traditional to modern election symbols are in vogue in the Gram Panchayat (GP) elections and toaster, computer, mouse, pen drive, AC, fruit and vegetable symbols will be used in the campaign. Election symbols have been fixed by the Election Commission for many items related to daily life. The symbols will be distributed on January 4, although there are 190 symbols, it is certain that many will prefer popular symbols.
In the previous election, there were 48 election symbols. In this election, the State Election Commission (SEC) has reserved the symbols of 16 out of 260 registered parties. Remaining 244 registered political parties and independent candidates. As per the 2017 notification of the commission, 48 signs were fixed. As per the notification dated November 2019, 142 new symbols have been added. So the number of symbols is now 190.
Various symbols added to the list
By 2019, there was a list of 48 symbols. It is equipped with modern equipment including vegetables, fruits, wooden materials and electrical items. The vacuum cleaner along with the air conditioner will also be the symbols in the campaign. Beads, drill machines, dumbbells, earrings, helicopters, helmets, funnel, keys, okra, laptop, watermelon, stethoscopes, etc. have been added to the list.
As per instructions
Rita Maitrewar, the deputy collector of the general administration department, said the commission had finalized the list of election symbols. The symbols will be distributed to the candidates as per the instructions given by the commission and the list of symbols declared.
