Traditional midnight mass offered in the evening
Aurangabad, Dec 24:
Midnight Mass that is celebrated on Christmas Eve, traditionally at midnight, in commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ was celebrated in various churches in the city in the evening.
Bishop Ambrose Rebello along with Rev Father Benny Calicut and Rev Father Pradeep Kumar performed the Holy Mass and prayers at St Francis de Sales Cathedral, Aurangabad. Rev Ranjan Rathore and Rev S S Battise led the prayers at Christ Church from 6 pm to 6:40 pm and from 7 pm to 7:40 pm. Rev Sushil Ghule, Rev Vilas Nade, Rev Akshay Ghule and Rev Anant Khandagale offered prayers at St Philips Church at 6:30 pm. Huge stars have been installed in various places Shantipura, Sunil Chowk, Christanagar, Mission compound area. Scenes depicting Christ birth have been created in various places. Also, homes of Christian community members have been decorated on the occasion. Special prayers and mass will be held on December 25, in the churches in city and rural areas.
