Two families clash over dowry, wedding expenses; cross cases registered

A dispute over dowry money and wedding expenses led to a violent clash between two families in Wadgaon Kolhati, Waluj following which cross complaints were registered at the MIDC Waluj police station on Saturday.
According to police, the incident took place on Friday night near Sambhaji Park Arch in Gut No. 9 area. Based on the complaint filed by Bhimrao Garje (52, Mahavirnagar, Cidco Waluj Mahanagar), Gopinath Sanap, Ramkisan Sanap and Jhumbarbai Sanap allegedly abused and assaulted him over a dispute related to dowry money demanded from his daughter’s in-laws. The complainant alleged that the accused attacked him with an iron rod, injuring his head, nose and back. Meanwhile, in a counter complaint filed by Gopinath Sanap (32, Wadgaon Kolhati, Waluj), he alleged that his father-in-law Bhimrao Garje, brother-in-law Rahul Garje and relative Sharad Vaibhase assaulted him during an argument over reimbursement of wedding expenses. He claimed that Bhimrao Garje hit him on the hand with an iron rod and that the other accused also assaulted his father. Police have registered cross cases against both parties at the MIDC Waluj police station and further investigation is underway.
