Ten-year business association ends in Rs 2.88 crore fraud case

Three trader brothers from Rajkot, Gujarat, allegedly cheated city jeweller Atish Saveiwala (46), proprietor of Ankita Jewellers in Kasari Bazar, of 201 tolas (2018.89 grams) of gold, along with silver and copper, worth Rs 2.88 crore. A case has been registered against Jaideep, Vishal and Kalpesh Harkishan Jinjhuvadia at the City Chowk police station.

On January 26, 2026, the accused, representing Bhakti Ornaments, allegedly lured Saveiwala with an offer to manufacture ornaments at 1.5% labour charges instead of the usual 3%, citing partnerships with major companies. Having conducted Rs 8–10 crore in business over the past decade, Saveiwala trusted them and handed over the precious metal. The accused later stopped responding. After 25 days, Saveiwala visited Rajkot on February 24, where the accused allegedly claimed artisans had stolen the gold. When he insisted on filing a complaint, Vishal’s wife allegedly threatened to implicate him in a false kidnapping case. Saveiwala further alleged that when he approached a local police station in Rajkot, 15–20 associates of the accused surrounded him and threatened to kill him if he did not leave the Gujarat border. He also claimed local police did not assist him and instead asked him to leave. Upon returning to the city and again demanding the gold, he was allegedly warned that he would not be allowed to return alive to Maharashtra if he visited Rajkot. Police inspector Srinivas Rayalawar is investigating the case.
