Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Better late than never, the long-pending development of the city is finally expected to gather pace after the state’s Urban Development Department (UDD) issued a sector-wise notification approving substantial modifications to the Development Plan (DP) under the provisions of the Maharashtra Urban Development Department and the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act, 1966.
The modifications pertain to the “Excluded Parts” of the Development Plan submitted by the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC). The notification, issued on Thursday, is expected to accelerate several stalled or slow-moving development projects across the city.
Earlier in April 2025, the state government had approved the integrated Development Plan — including the Chikalthana MIDC and Satara-Deolai areas — after a gap of 33 years.
CSMC Deputy Director (Town Planning) Manoj Garje confirmed that the civic body had received the official notification from the UDD regarding approval of the DP modifications.
According to the notification dated May 14 and signed by UDD Under Secretary Prasad Shinde, the final republished Development Plan for the excluded parts of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar — covering the original municipal limits, extended areas, Satara-Deolai, CIDCO and CIDCO denotified areas, along with Chikalthana MIDC — will come into force 30 days after publication in the official gazette.
Sources said the sanctioned plan incorporating substantial modifications in the 53 excluded parts will be made available for public inspection at the municipal corporation headquarters on all working days for a period of 30 days. The approved plan is expected to be officially published on Friday.
Earlier, on April 15, 2025, the UDD had approved the final Development Plan with nearly 350 changes and modifications concerning the excluded portions of the city’s planning area.
