Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Students pursuing vocational education in ‘Automobile’ will now professionally service two-wheelers and four-wheelers directly at an automobile service station. This important project was inaugurated on Thursday by vice-chancellor Dr Vijay Fulari.
The Deen Dayal Upadhyay Skill Centre has been functioning at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University for the past 15 years. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes such as B.Voc and M.Voc, including two specialisations: industrial automation and automobile. Approval to start an automobile service station, i.e. a two-wheeler and four-wheeler garage for students of the automobile branch, was granted in the management council meeting held on March 24. The centre will provide vehicle servicing in a professional manner similar to commercial establishments.
The facility was inaugurated by vice-chancellor Dr Vijay Fulari in the presence of registrar Dr Prashant Amritkar, director Dr Bharat Gavli, senate member Dr Bhaskar Sathe, UNIC director Dr Praveen Yannawar, and executive engineer Ravindra Kale. A separate building has already been allotted for the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Skill Centre, and a dedicated workshop has been provided for the automobile department. The vice-chancellor also suggested constructing four additional rooms for the department in the future.
Hands-on training and services for public
At the service centre, students will carry out vehicle servicing, engine, brake and clutch repairs, wiring, battery and lighting work. The newly established station will not only provide professional automobile services but also serve as an effective platform for practical training. Services such as routine maintenance of two-wheelers and four-wheelers, engine, brake and clutch repairs, electrical diagnostics, and battery and lighting system checks will be available, informed director Dr Bharti Gavli.
