Walk-in cold storage for corona vaccine
Aurangabad, Nov 4:
On the one hand, corona vaccine is being awaited, while on the other hand, walk-in cold storage is being set up in Aurangabad to store corona vaccine. For this, the available space on the ground floor of the office of the deputy director of health has been selected.
At present, everyone''s attention is focused on when the corona vaccine will arrive. Preparations are being made to ensure last minute inconvenience. Information is being collected on the number of staff available for vaccination, and the number of health centres. Whenever the vaccine becomes available, it will first be given to frontline health workers. The vaccination campaign will last several months. Therefore, cold storage is required to keep the vaccine. Hence the department of public health is planning to acquire private cold storages. The city has government cold storage at the Aurangabad cantonment and the training centre at Cidco. In addition, cold storage will be set up on the ground floor of the deputy director of health''s office. The storage will be such that health workers can come and go inside. Also, planning is being done by finding out where the private cold storages are available, said the deputy director of health services, Dr Swapnil Lale.
Vaccination larger than other campaigns
The measles-rubella vaccination (MR) campaign was launched two years ago following a successful campaign of pulse polio vaccination. The vaccine was given to children below 15 years of age. But the corona vaccine will have to be given to people of all ages. Therefore, vaccination is going to be bigger than the MR campaign.
