Municipal services must go online, and officials must explain why they haven’t. Administrator G. Sreekant issued this directive on Monday, emphasizing the government’s mandate to digitize most civic services under the Right to Services Act. The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) had set April 1 as the deadline to make 69 services available online.

In a high-level review meeting, Sreekant questioned department heads on the delay and demanded clear justifications for any services still offline. He ordered officials to devise a concrete timeline for the transition and identify bottlenecks preventing full implementation.

Sreekant also assessed the execution of the Chief Minister’s 100-day program. He instructed the municipal office to set up a waiting area for visitors with drinking water facilities. Departments experiencing high public footfall must ensure an adequate supply of water jars. With the clock ticking toward the April deadline, officials now face pressure to comply or justify their inaction.
