Young doctor battling with Covid-19 passes away

Aurangabad, May 26:

A promising and young doctor, Dr. Rahul Pawar, who was battling his life for about a month with Covid-19 in MGM Hospital, breathed his last today at 3.15 pm.

A native of Anandnagar Tanda (in Pathri-Parbhani) Pawar's parents were sugarcane-cutting labourers. Overcoming all the odds coming in his way, he completed his M.B.B.S from a private medical college in Latur. During the internship, he was rendering his duty by serving the Coronavirus infected patients. Later on, he himself got infected. When his health started to deteriorate his friends admitted him to MGM Hospital on May 3. The financial condition of his family was very poor. As a result, the friends collected the money to pay for the treatment and medicine expenses, initially. Many others also started to contribute financially. Later on, MGM hospital decided to treat him free of cost. The hospital also returned Rs 1.80 lakh deposited with them by his relatives and friends.

The hospital doctors were trying their best and the prayers were also being made constantly for the long life of this young and promising doctor. However, the efforts of all of them went in vain and Dr Pawar died today afternoon. His family members and friends sustained a shock on hearing the news.

The MGM's medical superintendent Dr. H R Raghavan said, " Dr Pawar was being treated in our hospital since May 3. His health was deteriorating since the day of admission. He was put on the ventilator from May 16. In the meantime, he was found to be suffering from Mucormycosis. Hence the treatment of this fungal infection was also underway. All the necessary injections were given to him, but breathed his last while undergoing treatment today afternoon."
