Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Thirty-year-old Ganesh Bokan (Harsul), who was supporting his family financially, died on February 6, nine days after being hit by a recklessly speeding pickup van. He was undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

The incident occurred on January 27 at around 8.45 am when Ganesh, as per his daily routine, was heading to work on his two-wheeler via Jalgaon Road. While turning from Wokhard Chowk towards Naregaon Road, a speeding pickup van (MH-20-GC-9946) near the ESIC hospital rammed into him, throwing him several feet away. He suffered serious injuries to the head, right leg, hand, chest, and abdomen. Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital, and later, as his condition worsened, he was shifted to the ICU of GMCH on February 5, where he died during treatment the next afternoon.

Lost parents five years ago

Originally from Ahmedpur in Latur district, Ganesh had lost both his parents five years ago and had been living with his sister Vaishali and brother-in-law Dinesh Maid (40) in the Harsul–Savangi area. Employed at Prozone Mall, he was the family’s main support. With his earlier brother’s accidental death and now Ganesh’s demise, the family has been left shattered, triggering an outpouring of grief in the locality.
