Tokyo Olympics 2020: Players to watch out for - P.V Sindhu

In the upcoming Tokyo Olmpics 2020 all eyes will be on P.V Sindhu who is India's brightest prospects in the upcoming showpiece event. She will open her campaign at the Tokyo Olympics against Polikarpova Ksenia of Israel on July 25. Sindhu, who had lost to Spain’s Carolina Marin in the 2016 Olympics final, has been clubbed in an easy Group J, also comprising Hong Kong’s Cheung Ngan Yi who is ranked 34th in the world, while Polikarpova is 58th.The 6th seed will represent India in women’s singles and is expected to put up a good show in the tournament. 

 

 

P.V Sindhu rose to fame when she won a silver medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics, making her the first Indian woman to win an individual silver. Sindhu’s bronze medal win at the BWF World Championship in Guangzhou helped everyone notice her talent. In 2015 she won silver medal at the Denmark Open Super Series in 2015. The pinnacle of Sindhu’s career also became the pinnacle of Indian badminton history. With a silver medal performance at that Rio Olympics. In 2017, Sindhu avenged her setback at the Rio Olympics by defeating Marin in straight games to win her first India Open 2017 Super series to win a gold medal. In 2019 Sindhu became the first Indian to win the BWF World Championships  in just 36 minutes in a one-sided final which helped her win a gold medal.
