Tye who is considered a white-ball specialist is expected to be out of action for atleat 3 to 4 months. Speaking about the same, WACA Sports Science Sports Medicine Manager Nick Jones said, “AJ underwent successful reconstructive elbow surgery in Sydney a fortnight ago and has been recovering well, His availability in the BBL will be reviewed in the second half of the tournament.”

The head coach of Perth Scorchers Adam Voges, expressed his disappointment on missing out the service of Andrew Tye for the first half of the tournament. The former Aussie batsman said, “It’s never nice to lose any player to injury, but someone as experienced and well liked as AJ is a big blow for us,I’m confident we have the depth to cover AJ and hopefully fans will see him in action at The Furnace towards the end of the Big Bash.” Tye was recently released from his IPL side Kings XI Punjab ahead of the upcoming auction. Tye took 21 wickets for Perth Scorchers last year.
