Bangladesh National Cricket Team vs Pakistan National Cricket Team Match Scorecard: Litton Das struck a fighting century as Bangladesh recovered from a collapse to post 278 in the first innings on Day 1 of the second Test against Pakistan at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet on Saturday, May 16, 2026. At stumps, Pakistan were 21 without loss in six overs, trailing Bangladesh by 257 runs.

After being asked to bat first, Bangladesh endured a difficult start as Pakistan’s pace attack made early inroads under overcast conditions.

Mohammad Abbas struck on the second ball of the match by dismissing Mahmudul Hasan Joy and later removed debutant Tanzid Hasan to leave the hosts under pressure.

Khurram Shahzad added to Bangladesh’s troubles by dismissing Mominul Haque for 22 before lunch as Bangladesh reached 101 for 3 at the break.

The hosts then slipped further in the second session, losing captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz in quick succession to slump to 116 for 6.

Shanto made 29 from 74 balls before falling to Abbas, while Mushfiqur was trapped lbw by Khurram Shahzad for 23.

Litton Das then led Bangladesh’s recovery with a counterattacking innings of 126, registering his sixth Test century and third against Pakistan.

The wicketkeeper-batter stitched together crucial lower-order partnerships with Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam to push Bangladesh to a competitive first-innings total.

Litton reached his century in 135 balls and continued to attack the Pakistan bowlers before eventually becoming the ninth wicket to fall.

Khurram Shahzad finished as Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker with figures of 4 for 81, while Abbas claimed 3 for 45. Hasan Ali picked up two wickets and Sajid Khan chipped in with one.

Pakistan’s openers then survived the final six overs of the day without damage. Azan Awais remained unbeaten on 13, while Abdullah Fazal was not out on 8 at close of play.
