IPL  2026: Chennai Super Kings are once again without MS Dhoni Match 59 of the Indian Premier League 2026 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Dhoni missed the initial phase of IPL 2026 because of a calf injury and has yet to feature in a single game this season. Although the 44-year-old has regularly been seen batting, wicketkeeping and even bowling in the nets during training sessions, there has been no official confirmation regarding his return to competitive action.

According to reports, Dhoni was expected to travel with the CSK squad to Lucknow but later decided against it. Reports have also suggested that the former India captain does not want to disturb Chennai’s current winning combination.

CSK have managed to revive their campaign after a poor start to the season. The five-time champions entered the match with six wins from 11 games and remained firmly in contention for a playoff spot.

A victory against LSG would significantly strengthen Chennai’s chances of qualifying for the playoffs. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants have already been eliminated from the tournament after a disappointing campaign.

Toss Result

Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and elected to bowl first against Chennai Super Kings in Match 59.
