IPL 2026: The Indian Premier League 2026 playoff race has entered a decisive phase with all 10 franchises still mathematically alive in the competition. As per tournament rules, the top four teams in the points table at the end of the league stage will qualify for the playoffs.
The top two teams will face each other in Qualifier 1, where the winner advances directly to the final. The loser of Qualifier 1 gets another opportunity through Qualifier 2 against the winner of the Eliminator between the third and fourth-placed teams.
With several teams separated by only a few points, Net Run Rate is also expected to play a major role in deciding the final playoff spots.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently leading the IPL 2026 points table with 14 points from 11 matches and a strong Net Run Rate of 0.737.
SRH need just one victory from their remaining three league matches to officially qualify for the playoffs. If they win all three games, they can finish with 20 points and are likely to secure a top-two finish.
Punjab Kings
Punjab Kings have 13 points from 10 matches after an impressive start to the season.
PBKS need at least two wins from their remaining four matches to reach 17 points and seal playoff qualification. Winning all four games would take them to 21 points and strengthen their chances of finishing in the top two.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are placed third with 12 points from 10 matches and the best Net Run Rate among the top teams at 1.234.
RCB need two wins from their remaining four league games to reach the 16-point mark, which is generally considered enough for playoff qualification.
Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals slipped to fifth place after their heavy defeat against Gujarat Titans and currently have 12 points from 11 matches.
RR likely need two wins from their remaining three matches to reach 16 points and stay in control of their qualification hopes. Another defeat could complicate their chances significantly due to Net Run Rate concerns.
Gujarat Titans
Gujarat Titans climbed to second place after defeating Rajasthan Royals and now have 14 points from 11 matches.
The Shubman Gill-led side need just one more victory from their final three matches to confirm a playoff berth. Winning all remaining matches could help GT secure a top-two finish with 20 points.
Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings remain in contention despite an inconsistent campaign and currently have 10 points from 10 matches.
CSK will likely need to win at least three of their remaining four matches to reach 16 points and strengthen their playoff hopes.
Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals are in a difficult position after slipping to eighth place with eight points from 11 matches.
The Axar Patel-led side can now reach a maximum of 14 points if they win all their remaining matches. DC will not only need to win all three games but will also depend heavily on favourable results from other teams.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata Knight Riders revived their campaign with four consecutive victories and currently have nine points from 10 matches.
KKR likely need to win all their remaining four matches to reach 17 points and keep qualification in their own hands. Any further slip-up could severely dent their playoff hopes.
Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians are currently ninth in the standings with six points from 10 matches after a disappointing campaign.
The Hardik Pandya-led side can only reach a maximum of 14 points and therefore need to win all remaining matches while also depending on multiple favourable results elsewhere.
Lucknow Super Giants
Lucknow Super Giants remain mathematically alive but face an uphill task after managing only six points from 10 matches.
LSG must win all their remaining matches to finish on 14 points and will then require several other results and Net Run Rate calculations to go in their favour.
With the league stage approaching its final stretch, every match is expected to have a major impact on the IPL 2026 playoff race.
