IPL 2026: Riyan Parag, captain of Rajasthan Royals (RR), has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 40 of the Indian Premier League 2026 against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

The breach falls under Article 2.21 of the Code of Conduct, which relates to “conduct that brings the game into disrepute.” The incident occurred during the second innings, when Parag was seen using a vape inside the dressing room.

Parag admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by match referee Amit Sharma. Given Parag’s reported Rs 14 crore contract for the season, his per-match fee is estimated at around Rs 1 crore, which means a 25% fine amounts to approximately Rs 25 lakh.

The BCCI said it is also exploring further action, including possible proceedings against the team, its officials and involved individuals, to ensure adherence to standards and protect the reputation of the league.

The episode marks the second instance this season involving Rajasthan Royals drawing scrutiny. Earlier, team manager Ravinder “Romi” Bhinder was warned and fined Rs 1 lakh after being found using a mobile phone during a match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
