IPL 2026, RCB vs LSG Today Match: Royal Challengers Bengaluru opener Phil Salt is unlikely to feature in Match 50 of the Indian Premier League 2026 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium on Thursday, May 7, 2026. The 29-year-old has been sidelined with a finger injury sustained during RCB’s home match against Delhi Capitals earlier this season. The England wicketkeeper-batter reportedly injured his left-hand finger while attempting to stop a boundary near deep backward square leg during the second innings of the game.

The injury has already forced Salt to miss multiple matches for the defending champions. Reports also suggest that the batter travelled back to the United Kingdom on May 4 for scans and further assessment of his recovery. However, RCB have not issued an official statement regarding his fitness or possible return.

Salt’s absence is a significant setback for Bengaluru, considering the impact he made earlier in the tournament. The aggressive opener scored 202 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 168.33 before being ruled out. In his absence, Jacob Bethell has continued to open the batting alongside Virat Kohli. Bethell has scored 39 runs in three matches so far.

RCB, led by Rajat Patidar, are currently among the top teams in the IPL 2026 standings as they continue their title defence after winning their maiden championship last season.
