Admissions under the 25% Right to Education (RTE) Act will begin from Tuesday, February 17, under the revised rules, according to the Maharashtra school education department. Parents are required to apply online on the official website under a revised admission process announced earlier this month.

Parents can select up to 10 private unaided schools for Maharashtra RTE admissions, but the selected schools must be within a radius of one kilometre of the student's registered address, according to the new rules. Now, under new rules, parents will upload all required documents at the time of submitting the online application, instead of submitting them later during admission.

This year, the Maharashtra school education department has announced two new modifications for the RTE admission process:

1. Reduce the distance criterion for school selection.

2. Mandatory online document submission at the time of application.

New RTE admission rules and delay concerned parents as only three months remain for the new academic year. Usually, the admission for the academic year starts in December or January. This time, the online process of RTE admission has not started to confirm the admission of their child in a private school under 25% reserved seats.
