The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday announced the postponement of the Joint Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) due to "unavoidable circumstances and logistic issues." The CSIR-UGC-NET, initially scheduled for June 25-27, will have its new dates announced later on the official NTA website.

The Joint CSIR-UGC NET fellowship program aims to foster National Science & Technology Human Resource Development by awarding a significant number of Junior Research Fellowships (JRFs) annually. Candidates who qualify in the test are eligible for roles such as JRFs, Assistant Professors, and Ph.D. admissions in Indian universities and colleges, provided they meet the UGC's eligibility criteria.

This postponement follows public outcry over the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and UGC-NET exams. NEET, the medical entrance examination conducted by NTA on May 5, saw participation from around 24 lakh candidates. The results, announced on June 4, were marred by allegations of question paper leaks in Bihar and other irregularities.

Additionally, the UGC-NET was canceled two days ago following inputs from the national anti-cyber-crime agency indicating the exam had been compromised.

For more information, candidates are advised to visit the official NTA website.
