Anupam Kher gets nostalgic as he completes 37 years in Bollywood

Anupam Kher who has had a stellar acting career since his debut in Bollywood reminisced about his journey in the industry. The veteran star is all set to celebrate his debut in movies tomorrow, as May 25 marks 37 years of his first Bollywood outing ‘Saaransh’. Feeling emotional ahead of the big day tomorrow, the actor shared a video from the starting credits of his debut movie that highlighted his name – Introducing Anupam Kher.“Even today when I see my name in the opening titles of my first film #Saaransh as introducing #AnupamKher I get choked with emotions. Can’t believe that tomorrow, 25th I will complete 37 years in cinema. Wah! God has really been kind!! #1DayToGo for my 37th birthday in movies! More tomorrow! 🎞🎥📽🙏#1DayToGo #Saaransh #Introducing,” wrote the actor. 

He has appeared in over 500 films predominantly in Hindi language, and many plays. He is a recipient of two National Film Awards and eight Filmfare Awards. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his performance in Saaransh (1984). He holds the record for winning the Filmfare Award for Best Comedian five times in total for: Ram Lakhan (1989), Lamhe (1991), Khel (1992), Darr (1993) and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995). He won the National Film Award for Special Mention twice for his performances in Daddy (1989) and Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara (2005). For his performance in the film Vijay (1988), he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016 for his contribution in the field of cinema and arts. Recently, Anupam Kher had announced his decision to quit his popular American TV show to be with his family.  On the work front, Kher  will soon be seen in ‘Kashmir Files’ and has also signed up filmmaker like Rohit Dhawan and Sooraj Barjatya for their next film.
