Tamil Nadu Minister of information and publicity, Kadambur Raju expressed his gratitude to superstar Ajith Kumar for coming to the rescue of the needy amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Ajith donated Rs 50 Lakh each to PM and CM relief fund. Additional, he has contributed Rs 25 Lakh to the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI). The actor's fans on social media were all praise for his noble gesture.

On the other hand, he criticized Kamal Haasan over his recent open letter to PM Narendra Modi. Raju said that instead of playing the blame game during this situation, one should give suggestions for relief activities. Kamal Haasan, a day after '9 PM for 9 Minutes' initiative, wrote an open letter to Modi and shared it on Instagram. Recently, Kamal Haasan had written an open letter to prime minister Narendra Modi stating that the plan to lock down the country was a failure. He also added that Narendra Modi's lockdown plan was very similar to his demonetization campaign which was executed without any prior notice.
