“I’m Still Trying To Prove That 19-Year-Old Right”: Avinash Tiwary Gets Candid
Actor Avinash Tiwary, in his recent interview opened up about the quiet, internal motivation that has driven his journey as an actor—one that began not on a film set, but in a hostel room during his engineering days. From leaving a lasting impression in Laila Majnu to showcasing range in Khakee, Bulbbul, and Bambai Meri Jaan, Tiwary has steadily carved a space for himself as one of the industry’s most compelling performers. Now, as he steps into a lighter, romantic space with Ginny Wedss Sunny 2, the actor’s journey reflects both versatility and persistence.
Going down memory lane, Tiwary shared how stepping away from the comfort of home gave him space to discover himself. “I was in my second year of engineering, away from home, staying in a hostel… and somewhere, that 19-year-old boy thought he was good at acting,” he recalled, smiling at the innocence of that belief. What makes the reflection striking is its honesty—Tiwary admitted he had never acted before. Yet, that instinct stayed with him.
“Today, I’m almost double that age and I’m still trying to prove to that boy that he was right,” he said, framing his entire career as a conversation with his younger self. For the actor, the journey hasn’t been about external validation alone, but about honouring that first spark of self-belief. “I’m trying to make him feel right, that he was right when he started off,” he added. In the process, Tiwary acknowledged, he’s also constantly striving to prove his worth to the world. “And in doing that, I’m also trying to prove to everyone that I’m good at what I do… that I do a decent job,” he said.
Defined by humility and quiet determination, Tiwary’s journey comes full circle, still chasing his 19-year-old self’s approval, now the romantic lead of Ginny Wedss Sunny 2.
